PM Metal Powders for Automotive, Machinery, Tooling, Aerospace & Powder Metallurgy Components

Product Overview

Stainless Steel, Low-Alloy Steel, Tool Steel, Fe-Ni, Co-Based and Specialty Alloy Powders for Press-and-Sinter Powder Metallurgy

GREENSTONE PM Metal Powders are engineered for conventional powder metallurgy (PM), press-and-sinter manufacturing, powder compaction, sintered structural components and specialty powder-metallurgy applications.

The portfolio covers a broad range of internationally recognized material systems, including 15-5PH, 17-4PH, 410, 430 and 440C stainless steels; 4605 and 8620 low-alloy steels; Fe-Ni alloys; M2, M3-2, T15 and H13 tool steels; KOVAR (4J29) controlled-expansion alloy; FeCrAl alloy; and cobalt-based wear-resistant alloys.

GREENSTONE PM powders are produced with controlled chemical composition, particle-size distribution, apparent density, tap density and flowability to support stable powder filling, compaction, sintering and subsequent heat-treatment processes.

The powders are suitable for manufacturing gears, sprockets, bushings, bearings, structural parts, automotive components, industrial machinery parts, wear-resistant components, cutting and tooling components, electrical parts and precision engineering components.

Typical industries include automotive, industrial machinery, aerospace, power tools, electrical equipment, energy, transportation, electronics and general precision manufacturing.

Stainless Steel PM Powders

GREENSTONE stainless steel PM powders provide different combinations of corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, hardness, wear resistance and magnetic properties.

15-5PH and 17-4PH precipitation-hardening stainless steels are suitable for high-strength structural components requiring good corrosion resistance and heat-treatment capability.

410 martensitic stainless steel provides good strength and moderate corrosion resistance and can be heat treated to increase hardness.

430 ferritic stainless steel offers corrosion resistance combined with magnetic properties and is suitable for electrical, appliance and general industrial components.

440C high-carbon stainless steel provides high hardness and wear resistance for bearings, wear components and precision mechanical parts.

Low-Alloy Steel PM Powders

GREENSTONE low-alloy steel powders include material systems such as 4605 and 8620, developed for structural powder metallurgy components requiring strength, toughness and heat-treatment capability.

These powders are particularly suitable for:

  • Automotive gears, sprockets and transmission components
  • Mechanical structural parts
  • Bushings and hubs
  • Power-tool components
  • Industrial machinery parts
  • Wear-resistant and load-bearing components

Selected grades can undergo carburizing, quenching, tempering or other heat treatments according to final performance requirements.

Tool Steel & High-Speed Steel PM Powders

GREENSTONE provides M2, M3-2, T15 and H13 powders for powder-metallurgy applications requiring high hardness, wear resistance, hot hardness and thermal stability.

M2 is a widely used molybdenum high-speed steel offering a strong balance of toughness and wear resistance.

M3-2 provides higher carbon and vanadium content than conventional M2, improving wear resistance for demanding tooling applications.

T15 is a high-alloy tungsten-cobalt high-speed steel designed for applications requiring exceptional hot hardness and abrasion resistance.

H13 hot-work tool steel combines thermal-fatigue resistance, toughness and elevated-temperature strength.

Typical applications include cutting tools, forming tools, wear components, industrial tooling, high-temperature tooling and specialty mechanical components.

Fe-Ni Alloy PM Powders

Iron-nickel PM powders provide combinations of mechanical strength, toughness, magnetic properties and controlled thermal characteristics.

Different nickel concentrations can be supplied depending on the required performance. These materials can be used for precision mechanical components, magnetic parts, structural components and specialty engineering applications.

KOVAR (4J29) Controlled-Expansion Alloy Powder

KOVAR (4J29) is an Fe-Ni-Co controlled-expansion alloy used where dimensional compatibility between metals, glass and ceramics is required.

Its controlled coefficient of thermal expansion makes it particularly suitable for:

  • Glass-to-metal sealing
  • Electronic packages
  • Hermetic components
  • Sensor housings
  • Vacuum electronics
  • Semiconductor packaging
  • Aerospace electronic components

Powder metallurgy enables complex KOVAR components to be manufactured with reduced machining requirements.

FeCrAl High-Temperature Alloy Powder

FeCrAl iron-chromium-aluminum alloy powder provides excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance and electrical resistance.

The formation of a protective alumina-rich surface layer at elevated temperature makes FeCrAl suitable for heating elements, high-temperature porous components, filtration structures, burner components and industrial thermal equipment.

Cobalt-Based Wear-Resistant PM Powders

Cobalt-based powder metallurgy alloys are available for components requiring combinations of high-temperature strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance.

They are suitable for demanding components used in aerospace, energy, tooling and industrial machinery.

Final alloy selection should be based on operating temperature, wear mechanism, corrosion environment and mechanical loading.
