The Greenstone High-Power Vacuum Laser Welding R&D Platform is a large-format, high-precision system engineered for deep-penetration vacuum laser welding, process development, and application-level production verification. By performing welding inside a controlled negative-pressure (vacuum) environment, the platform improves laser energy utilization and stabilizes keyhole and molten pool behavior—helping to reduce porosity-related defects and enhance weld consistency, especially in demanding materials and thick-section joints.
Vacuum conditions can significantly influence melt flow mechanisms and pore formation behavior during welding. In practice, this means improved stability of the welding process and fewer gas-porosity defects—resulting in stronger, more reliable welds and better overall joint quality.
